Joy!

Spoonbill Pond at Big Talbot Island
Spoonbill Pond at Big Talbot Island

We have paid a price for every move—for the boxes packed, the roots pulled up, the long drives toward the unknown.

From military orders to civilian calls, each shift asked something of us, and yet gave us back more than it took.

New towns became chapters, strangers became friends, and each fresh start taught us how wide and rich a life can be.

If I could choose again, I’d gather it all—the sacrifices, the leaps, the lessons—and walk that road once more.

Now, at last, we’re happy to call Fernandina Beach home, to sink our roots deep in its sand and salt air, and to savor the shorter days ahead, grateful for the journey that led us here.

Island life is a choice we relish, a gentle rhythm to grow older to—the tide our metronome, the sea breeze our companion, the horizon reminding us how far we’ve come, and how sweet it is to be still.

And know I am—content, grateful, and at peace—where the sea meets the sky, and my heart finds rest.

Be still and know... (Ps 46:10) is Joy!
